Harry Redknapp’s men may have lost three times already away from home and failed to keep a clean sheet since the start of the season but they are on a six-match unbeaten run in the league and are a potent force going forward, especially with the return to full fitness of England striker Jermain Defoe.

Rafael van der Vaart is set to be back in the frame after recovering from a hamstring injury in time for the trip to Bloomfield Road.

Van der Vaart has been forced to miss the last two games with the problem while Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will also check on the fitness of midfielders Jermaine Jenas (calf) and Niko Kranjcar (hamstring).

Defender Younes Kaboul is hoping to be available after a hip problem but captain Ledley King (groin), Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Jamie O’Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) are all still on the long-term injury list. Harry Redknapp said:

“Younes and Rafa have trained all week and Rafa looks sharp.

“Wilson should also be okay and Ledley King has trained well as well this week. He’s not fit to play, but he has trained well.

“Overall, we’re not looking too bad.”

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway will have to make do without the services of key midfielder Charlie Adam for the visit of Tottenham.

Scotland international Adam is ruled out as he starts a one-match ban after being booked for the fifth time this season in the 1-0 win at Stoke last Saturday.

Ludovic Sylvestre is in contention for a recall after a hamstring strain while Alex Baptiste is continuing his recovery from a knee problem but Matt Gilks, Chris Basham, Billy Clarke (all knee), Marlon Harewood (hamstring) and Louis Almond (shoulder) remain sidelined.
